City Services

City of Higginsville, MO

Higginsville Municipal Utilities provide the citizens of Higginsville with state of the art city owned utilities. Competitive rates, quality service and quick response time are advantages that both residential and commercial customers receive by having locally owned utilities.

The city has a modern 2.5-MGD water treatment plant with storage of 1.1 MG above ground and .5 MG below ground. The city recently completed a $1.8 million dollar rehabilitation of its sanitary sewer collection system to meet the increasing demands of a growing system.

The electric utility buys low cost power from KCPL. Power generated by the local 44.5-megawatt plant is then sold back to KCPL at peak demand times. This results in fewer hours of plant operation and also provides a cost savings to local customers as well as outstanding reliability.

Citizens Telephone Company, an employee-owned telecommunications company, provides customers with state of the art communication facilities. A digital switch serves Higginsville and is capable of the latest advanced technologies. Fiber optic cable has been placed extensively through the company's service area. Over 95% of the area is served by buried cable. In addition to local service, Citizens Telephone Company or its affiliates offer various services including long distance, DSL-based high speed Internet access and dial up Internet services.

Missouri Gas Energy is the source for natural gas for the area. West Central Electric serves the five-county rural area surrounding Higginsville with electric power. Cable television is available through Galaxy Cablevision.

Higginsville's City Hall, located at 1922 Main, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday though Friday. A drive-through window and a night deposit box are located at the rear of the building for customer convenience.
